Old Friends

It's always hard to see friends move away.

But it's fun when they come back to visit!

Greg and Nicolle are in town and we've already had two fun events with them.

1. Sprayground

As I mentioned before, it has been unseasonably cool here. I was a little afraid to take my kids to the sprayground. I could foresee lots of chattery teeth and purple lips. But the weather cooperated perfectly and we had a great time with our friends.

So many girls running around!
The boys were outnumbered BY FAR.

I'm so glad Brandon is a good sport.
He let SJ soak him.
And she loved every minute.

2. Flag Football

Greg got all the "old guys" together for a morning of flag football.  I loved practicing my sport photography skills with those guys. Plus, they were short on people this time, so I even got to take a couple turns as quarterback. I might have thrown for touchdowns on two of my three possessions...don't ask me about the one that didn't score.

Here are some of my favorite pics.

I liked taking pictures in 70 degree weather much better than the freezing turkey bowl every year. Such a fun morning with friends. And there were no injuries! Just two blown-out cleats. Not bad for our aging bodies.

Summer bucket list: complete

With a few days to spare, we checked the last two items off of our summer bucket list.

1. Ice skating. We had so much fun the last time we went that the kids wanted to go again this summer. I thought it would be an awesome reprieve from the summer heat and humidity.  But it hasn't been hot here.  It's kind of weird.  Not that I'm complaining. Anyway...we went skating.

We brought our neighbor/friend/4th-child-during-the-summer along.

We checked out a trainer for Caroline.
But after a couple of times around the rink,
she decided she wanted to try it on her own.

And she did it!
She made sure to stay close to the edge,
but didn't have to hold on all the time.
And she got some help from her super-nice big bro.

Whit did great this time around, too.
She made it one lap without touching the
wall or falling the whole way. Nice!

Fun, fun, fun.

2. Grasshoppers Game

The last item on our list was to go to another baseball game. It has been SO rainy that I was afraid we wouldn't find a game that fit our schedule and didn't get rained out. But the weather cooperated and we had a great night at the ballpark.

Love the laid-back atmosphere at baseball games. It's the perfect summer pastime.

And now...time to get ready for waking up early, packing lunches, and homework.

More cousin fun

We had such a good time last time we met our NC cousins, that we decided to squeeze in one more visit before school started.  We visited the same great science center and then found a FABULOUS park. So. much. fun.

Check out this AWESOME slide!

 Wheeeeee!

And I'd never seen one of these cool rocking teeter-totter things. Fun.

I wish we would have planned this a little better and had Avery come home with us.  The girls were sad to say good-bye and were plotting ways to run away together.  I guess we need to arrange more get-togethers for them.
